Validating the MID Server
On this page
In this lesson, you will learn:
- What validation does
- What ‘Up’ and ‘Validated’ mean
- The evidence a MID is ready
π Quick look back: Last time: Installing the First MID Server. You learned how snwr-mid-mum-01 was installed and connected.
1 The Problem: An Unvalidated MID Server Can’t Be Used
snwr-mid-mum-01 shows up on the instance. But it’s marked ‘Not validated’. Until it’s validated:
- Discovery won’t use it.
- Nobody has confirmed it’s the MID Server you installed.
π The fix: Validate it, and check the evidence that it’s ready.

2 What validation does
Validation is an admin’s confirmation that this MID Server is trusted. It’s a button on the MID Server record.
Key term: Up
The MID Server is running and in touch with the instance.
Key term: Validated
An admin has confirmed it can be trusted and used.
3 Evidence it’s ready
- Status is Up.
- Validated is true.
- Its version matches the instance.
- A simple test job returns a result.
4 Project Clear View: How We Implemented It
π Situation: snwr-mid-mum-01 is Up but not validated.
π§ Decision: Validate it and collect the evidence.
π οΈ Steps we took:
- Opened the MID Server record on snwr.
- Checked the host and name matched the install record.
- Clicked Validate.
- Confirmed status Up, validated, and the version matching snwr.
β What we verified:
- snwr-mid-mum-01 is Up and validated.
- Screenshots are saved as evidence.
π Evidence: MID readiness evidence in the tracker.
5 Quick recap
- A MID Server must be validated before Discovery uses it.
- Up means it’s talking to the instance.
- Validated means an admin trusts it.
- Keep evidence: status, validation, version, a test.
6 Check yourself
Think of your answer first. Then tap to check.

2 What does ‘Up’ mean? Show answer

3 Name two pieces of evidence a MID is ready. Show answer
Any two of: Up, validated, matching version, a test job result.
