Measuring Coverage and Credential Success
On this page
In this lesson, you will learn:
- How to measure coverage
- How to measure credential success
- SNWR’s numbers
π Quick look back: Last time: Comparing Results with the Client’s Inventory. You learned how the full results compared with the old server list.
1 The Problem: ‘Most Servers Work’ Isn’t a Number
AC-01 and AC-07 set numbers: 95% coverage and 98% credential success. ‘Most servers work’ can’t be signed off.
- You need real percentages.
- You need to show how they were measured.
π The fix: Measure coverage, credential success and duration the same way every time.

2 How to measure
| Measure | How |
|---|---|
| Coverage | Servers discovered Γ· servers in scope |
| Credential success | Devices where a credential worked Γ· devices tried |
| Duration | Schedule start to finish |
π‘ Good to know: Write down exactly how you counted, so anyone can repeat it.
3 When a target is missed
Find the cause, fix it, and measure again. Don’t change how you count to make the number fit.
4 Project Clear View: How We Implemented It
π Situation: AC-07 needed 98% credential success.
π§ Decision: Measure all three, fix the gap, measure again.
π οΈ Steps we took:
- Measured coverage: 96%.
- Measured credential success: 97.5%, below target.
- Found three servers with the old sudo path; Priya fixed them.
- Measured again: 99%.
β What we verified:
- All three targets met.
- The counting method is written down.
π Evidence: Measures report, evidence for AC-01, AC-06 and AC-07.
5 Quick recap
- Coverage, credential success and duration need real numbers.
- Write down how you counted.
- If a target is missed, fix the cause and measure again.
- Never change the counting to fit.
6 Check yourself
Think of your answer first. Then tap to check.
1 How is credential success measured? Show answer
Devices where a credential worked, divided by devices tried.
2 Why was SNWR below 98% at first? Show answer
Three servers still had the old sudo path.
3 How long does the nightly scan take? Show answer
2 hours 10 minutes.
Nice work! Clear View’s numbers are proven. π
