Cloud Discovery Schedules
On this page
In this lesson, you will learn:
- What a cloud schedule covers
- How often to run it
- SNWR AWS Daily
π Quick look back: Last time: Connecting the SNWR AWS Account. You learned how the AWS account was connected with a credential and service account.
1 The Problem: Cloud Changes Faster Than Server Rooms
In AWS, Kenji’s team adds and removes instances often. If cloud data is scanned rarely:
- The CMDB shows servers that are gone.
- New ones are missing.
π The fix: Schedule Cloud Discovery at least daily.

2 What a cloud schedule sets
- The service account.
- Which regions.
- When to run.
- Which MID Server.
3 How often
Daily suits most clients. Busy cloud teams may run more often. Discovery Admin Workspace shows cloud and IP schedules together.
π‘ Good to know: Run the IP scan inside the VPC after the cloud schedule, so new instances exist before their servers are explored.
4 Project Clear View: How We Implemented It
π Situation: The AWS account was connected.
π§ Decision: Create SNWR AWS Daily and order it before the VPC IP scan.
π οΈ Steps we took:
- Created the cloud schedule for ap-south-1 at 05:00 IST.
- Set the VPC IP scan for 05:45 IST.
- Ran both once on snwrtest.
- Checked both appear in Discovery Admin Workspace.
β What we verified:
- Both ran in order.
- New instances appeared before their servers were explored.
π Evidence: Both schedules, listed in the migration matrix.
5 Quick recap
- Cloud changes fast, so scan at least daily.
- A cloud schedule sets account, regions, time and MID.
- Run the VPC IP scan after the cloud scan.
- The workspace shows both together.
6 Check yourself
Think of your answer first. Then tap to check.
1 Why scan cloud at least daily? Show answer
Cloud resources change quickly.
2 When does SNWR AWS Daily run? Show answer
05:00 IST.
3 Why run the IP scan after the cloud scan? Show answer
So new instances exist before their servers are explored.
Nice work! SNWR’s AWS account is scanned daily. π
