Debugging and Validating the Pattern

1 The Problem: A Pattern That Only Works in Debug Isn’t Done

The archiver pattern works in Debug mode. But nightly scans still don’t run it, because:

  • Nothing tells Discovery to use it.

🎯 The problem: A pattern that only works in Debug isn’t done.

👉 The fix: Link it to the process classifier, then prove a normal scan finds the archiver.

2 Linking it

The process classifier from Discovery Configuration recognises the archiver. Set it to trigger the new pattern.

3 Validating it

  • Run Quick Discovery on the server.
  • Check the CI and links.
  • Let one nightly scan run, and check again.
  • Check no duplicate archiver CI appears.

4 Project Clear View: How We Implemented It

📍 Situation: The pattern worked in Debug only.

🧭 Decision: Link it and validate it through normal scans.

🛠️ Steps we took:

  1. Set the process classifier to trigger the archiver pattern.
  2. Ran Quick Discovery on the lab copy on snwrdev.
  3. Moved it to snwrtest and ran Quick Discovery on snwr-mail-02.
  4. Checked the next nightly scan.

✅ What we verified:

  • The nightly scan updated the archiver CI.
  • No duplicates appeared.
