Validating ACC-Discovered CIs
On this page
In this lesson, you will learn:
- What to check on ACC CIs
- How to spot duplicates
- SNWR’s Finance results
π Quick look back: Last time: Policies and Collecting Host Information. You learned how ACC policies decide what agents collect and when.
1 The Problem: Agent Data Can Duplicate Old Records
The six Finance servers were in the old spreadsheet. If ACC data doesn’t match those records:
- Each server appears twice.
- Incidents stay on the old record.
π The fix: Check class, fields, source and duplicates for every ACC CI.

2 What to check
- Class is right.
- Key fields are filled.
- The source shows the agent.
- No duplicate with an older record.
- Incidents still linked.
3 If duplicates appear
Check the identification data: names and serial numbers. Fix the old record, then merge. See CMDB Readiness βΊ Existing Duplicates: What to Do Before Discovery.
4 Project Clear View: How We Implemented It
π Situation: All six Finance agents had run.
π§ Decision: Check every Finance CI with Hana.
π οΈ Steps we took:
- Opened each of the six CIs.
- Checked class, fields and source.
- Searched for duplicate names.
- Checked incidents on snwr-fin-03 were still linked.
β What we verified:
- All six passed.
- IRE matched the old records by serial number and name.
π Evidence: ACC validation evidence for Quality Assurance.
5 Quick recap
- Check class, fields, source and duplicates.
- Make sure incidents stay linked.
- Duplicates usually mean identification data doesn’t match.
- Fix and merge, don’t delete.
6 Check yourself
Think of your answer first. Then tap to check.
1 Why check ACC CIs for duplicates? Show answer
The servers existed before, so a mismatch would create second records.
2 What shows the data came from the agent? Show answer
The source on the CI.
3 Did SNWR find duplicates? Show answer
No. IRE matched the old records.
Nice work! SNWR’s Finance servers are in the CMDB. π
